Queen City Golf Club is bringing Charlotte golfers together for a different kind of golf competition — no 18-hole round, no worrying about your handicap, and no hiding a bad part of your game.

Just three skills:

DRIVER. WEDGE. PUTTER.

Step up under the lights and put your game to the test against golfers from across Charlotte in the QCGC Adult Driver, Wedge & Putter Challenge.

Competitors will rotate through all three challenges, earn points based on their performance, and battle for the top overall score in separate Men’s and Women’s divisions.

CASH PRIZES — IN EACH DIVISION

🥇 1st Place — $500
🥈 2nd Place — $250
🥉 3rd Place — $150

That means $1,800 in total prize money will be awarded between the Men’s and Women’s fields.

And you absolutely do not need to be a scratch golfer to enter.

If you can hit a driver, throw a wedge at a flag, and roll a putt, you can compete.

The question is simple:

Can you put all three together when it counts?

Competition is limited to 100 total golfers.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is the Driver, Wedge & Putter Challenge?

  • It’s a three-part golf skills competition. Every competitor will be tested in driving, wedge play, and putting. Your performance across all three disciplines contributes to your overall standing.

  • You don’t have to play 18 holes and you don’t have to be the longest hitter or best putter in Charlotte.The challenge is being good enough at all three when it matters.

Do I have to be a really good golfer to compete?

  • No.

This event is meant to be competitive, but it is also meant to be fun. You do not need to be a scratch golfer, tournament player, or low handicap to participate. Golfers of different skill levels are encouraged to compete. If you want to test your game and have a fun night doing it, you belong in the field.

Is there a handicap requirement?

  • No handicap is required to participate. This is a skills competition rather than a traditional round of golf, so your normal course handicap does not determine your score.

Are men and women competing against each other?

  • No.

  • There will be separate Men’s and Women’s divisions, with prizes awarded separately in each.

Each division awards:

  • 1st — $500

  • 2nd — $250

  • 3rd — $150

How much does it cost to compete?

  • Registration is $50 per competitor.

  • Your registration reserves your place in the competition and gives you the opportunity to compete in all three disciplines.

  • The field is limited to 100 total competitors.

What do I need to bring?

  • Competitors should come ready to golf and bring the clubs they are comfortable using for the three challenges — most importantly a driver, wedge, and putter.

  • We also recommend comfortable golf or athletic shoes.

What time should competitors arrive?

  • Competitor check-in is from 6:15–6:45 PM.

  • Please do not plan to arrive at 7:00 PM.

  • We need everyone checked in and assigned to their starting areas before the competition begins.

  • Competition starts promptly at 7:00 PM.

Can I come if I don't want to compete?

Absolutely — and it's free.

  • You do not need to register or pay to attend as a spectator.

  • Come watch the competition, grab some food and drinks, listen to live music, check out the vendors, and hang out with the QCGC community.

  • Bring a lawn chair if you'd like and make a night of it.

Can I bring friends or family?

  • Yes.

  • Friends, family, significant others, and other spectators are welcome.

  • There is no spectator admission fee.

Will there be food and drinks?

  • Yes.

  • Resident Culture Brewing will be onsite serving beer, and King of Fire Pizza will be serving food.

  • Additional vendors will also be onsite throughout the evening.

  • Food and beverages are purchased separately from your competition registration.

What happens if it rains?

  • The scheduled rain date is: Friday, October 9

  • If weather forces the October 2 event to be postponed, Queen City Golf Club will communicate updated information to registered competitors.

  • The competition is capped at 100 total golfers.

  • Once the competitor field is full, registration will close.

  • If you know you want to compete, we recommend registering rather than waiting until the week of the event.
